I am an aquatic ecologist with an academic background in both marine and freshwater ecology. I am especially interested in phytoplankton ecology and diversity. I am working as a research officer focussing on algae sciences in the Limnology section at the National Fisheries Resources Research Institute in Uganda.
The training offered by the multidisciplinary Oceans and Lakes programme introduced me to a whole new world of science. It also enabled me to find a direction to follow in order to grow in my career.
I learnt from my promoter, professor Dirk Verschuren, that good luck comes to those whose minds are prepared. Hard work is that one friend that I embraced during the training in order to prepare my mind for the competitive world out here.
The Oceans and Lakes programme is very inspirational not only because of the wonderful team of professors and tutors, but also through the multidisciplinary nature of the programme.
Next to that, through the multicultural interactions, I gained many friends, and built a network in which we discuss research ideas and opportunities.
